Ketamine

An exciting development in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and trauma is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). Many people find healing by working with ketamine in conjunction with a therapist. KAP is proving to be effective and safe.

Ketamine tends to allow clients that feel stuck to view their problems from a new vantage point. A recent review of the published literature in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry concludes: “Initial results suggest that oral ketamine has significant antidepressant effects with good overall tolerability.”

Here at XY Counseling we collaborate with a doctor to help our clients obtain ketamine “troches” (like a lozenge) which are taken orally during a therapy session. As the client is under the influence of ketamine they may have additional insight into the nature of their symptoms and ways to shift out of them. Clients may have physical trauma releases, or come into new relationship with their bodies. The therapist is present to support the client during the KAP session.

We want all our clients who engage with KAP to have a beneficial experience. To that end, we work within the ethical guidelines outlined by the Ketamine Research Institute (KRIYA) here.
