A 6 Week Expressive Arts Therapy Group for Men About Relationships – Mondays – January 25 – February 29, 2016.
No art experience necessary!
- Human beings are social animals and relationships are the foundations of our lives. We start off life figuring out our relationship with our caregivers and our selves. We add friends and lovers as we grow older. All of these relationships – and our desire for them to be different, better, or more plentiful – profoundly affect us.
Men in this culture often have a harder time with relationships. Many of the components of healthy relating – emotional awareness, vulnerability, and good communication – might not have been modeled for us. It’s time to change that.
- Question what stops you from having the relationships you want.
- Explore the meaningful relationships of your past and present.
- Envision what kinds of relationships you want to create.
- Create supportive bonds with other group members.
- Discover a new perspective through art-making.
In addition to talking about these things, we will use many different art modalities that will allow us to explore our relationships: collage, photography, music, movement, poetry, drama, and more. No art experience is necessary – we will be expressing ourselves, not making something beautiful or polished.
This group is for both men who are in a romantic relationship currently and those who are not. It is also appropriate for men of all sexual orientations.
Why the name Roots Entwined? We all have roots somewhere – and we can all choose where we want to plant our roots now. Entwining those roots with others, we create strong connections that can last a lifetime.

FREE introductory session: Monday, January 18th, 7pm-9pm (advance registration requested) – you’ll get to know the facilitator, Alexander Warnow, as well as see the space that will be used. Alexander will lead the group in a short exercise and then there will be time for questions. Snacks will be served.
Dates/Times: Every Monday, 1/25/16 – 2/29/16 7pm-9pm.
Cost: $350 for all six meetings paid in advance.
Size: Space is limited to only 8 participants.
Ages: This group is open to men 18-108 – it’s never too early to start and never too late to learn!
